Out of 103 students at Eklavya Model Residential School Salia, 99 are from below the poverty line (BPL) Scheduled Tribe (ST) communities. Operational since May 2022, the school aims to provide holistic development opportunities for tribal students, empowering them to achieve their dreams.

The curriculum aligns with the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020, leading to the school achieving a remarkable 100% result in 2022. As a fully residential school with a structured CBSE curriculum, it boasts a well-stocked library and a computer lab with power backup and internet connectivity.


Academics

Yasir Ahmad Gigi, a Class 7 student, exemplifies academic excellence, promoting collaborative learning among peers. Iqra, also from Class 7 and belonging to a tribal community, secured 100% marks and was selected to deliver a speech at the national-level Y20 event.

Innovative teaching methodologies include project-based learning, assignments, interactive classroom sessions, and activities enhancing critical thinking abilities. Students undergo real-life experiences, engaging in problem-solving activities and developing leadership skills through peer learning. Rumasia from Class 7 scored 95% and actively participates in academic and co-curricular activities.


Sports

Shaheena Akhtar excels in cricket, leading the school’s cricket team and representing it in various inter-school competitions.


Cultural Activities

EMRS Salia encourages all-round development, recognizing talents such as Sheraz Ahmad in dance and Muneera Akhter and Zeenat leading the school singing teams. Mudasir Chichi and Jaffar, experts in tribal dance, follow the Shamshairbazi style popular among Gujjar and Bakerwal tribes of J&K, winning accolades in competitions.
