Eklavya Model Residential School, situated in Bansapur, Budni, Sehore, Madhya Pradesh, has successfully addressed a myriad of challenges since its establishment in 2015. Pioneering as the first school in the region to cater to the educational needs of tribal communities, the institution boasts modern amenities and adheres to a national curriculum. A significant majority of the 500 students enrolled are first-generation learners.

Spanning 16 acres, the school’s well-equipped facilities include a science lab, mathematics lab, social science lab, music room, and an expansive library boasting 2,500 books. Additionally, a fully functional computer lab, housing 26 computers, complements the academic infrastructure.

The institution has instituted its talent detection process, encompassing identification, development, selection, and competition, ensuring a holistic approach to student development.

Cultural Activities

With a focus on holistic development, the school actively promotes participation in sports and cultural activities. Over the past two years, 70 students engaged in various cultural activities at the school level. Thirty-two students participated in the 3rd EMRS Cultural Fest 2022, with one winning the first prize at the national level in a singing competition. In the 4th EMRS Cultural Fest 2023, 30 students participated, and one secured the second place at the national level. Additionally, ten students participated in Kala Utsav, a state-level competition.

The annual National Level EMRS Cultural Fest showcased the talents of Rangeeta, who secured the second position in the solo singing competition in 2022 and represented the school in the Tribal Folklore category in 2023.

Sports

Recognising the importance of sports in physical and mental development, the school actively encourages student participation. In the EMRS Annual Sports Meet 2023, the school fielded one of the largest contingents. Noteworthy achievements included a national win in athletics, seven winners at the zonal level, and one gold medalist at the state level.

Maniram secured the first rank in athletics at both the zonal and state levels, adding a gold medal to his accomplishments in 2023. Tamanna, the sole student selected from Sehore district for the Atal Bihar Vajpayee Institute of Mountaineering and Allied Sports, exemplifies the success of the school’s initiatives. Such efforts have not only boosted morale but also increased school attendance and reduced dropouts, all without imposing financial burdens on families. Students are now motivated to prepare for competitive exams, including NEET and JEE.

Academics

Academically, Aaresh achieved a significant milestone by becoming the first student to pass the JEE exam through self-study and guidance from teachers.

Roshni Jamre secured the top position among girls in the 10th CBSE Board Examination 2022 with a commendable 78% score. She aspires to pursue a career in engineering. Buddhesh, the top scorer among boys with a similar percentage, is also aiming to appear for JEE.

In conclusion, Eklavya Model Residential School has not only addressed challenges but has also emerged as a beacon of holistic education, nurturing talent, fostering cultural and sports excellence and empowering students for academic success.
