Simon Oraon Minj

Simon Oraon Minj, known as the “Waterman of Jharkhand” or “Simon Baba,” was conferred Padma Shri in 2016. This honour, presented by President Pranab Mukherjee, recognised his contributions to environmental conservation and rural development, particularly to combat drought and improve irrigation infrastructure in Jharkhand.
